Motor Show zoomed into first place!
The first ever City Centre Motor Show event was a speedy success, with more than 90 cars, 22 motor bikes and 2 army vehicles in locations across the city centre. The event attracted approximately 25,000 more visitors into the city centre than on a normal Sunday. Highlights of the classic cars included a spectacular classic 1927 Airman Series H.H. Franklin car owned by Eric Staniforth, one of only four complete cars in the UK, and a 1928 Humber 9/20 Tourer owned by Greg and Sue Lilleker, which once starred in Agatha Christies’ Poirot. The stars of the show were the super cars, especially the Pagani Zonda Roadster F, which can do 0 – 124 mph in just 9.8 seconds. A range of motorbikes were also displayed, from pre-war classics to brand new super bikes.
The free event, organised by Sheffield City Council and the MoorSheffield, transformed the city centre into a giant display area for a varied mix of vehicles. Alongside the Pagani Zonda Roadster F, four more super cars attended including a Lamborghini, Aston Martin DB9, Maserati and a GT3.
The event provided a fun day out for all the family with fair ground rides, and children’s characters alongside the vehicles to entertain every age group.
