Carol-oke at the Moor

Shoppers soaked up the yuletide atmosphere on Sundays in December as they took part in the aptly titled Carol-oke at The Moor.

The thoroughfare was ringing with music as shoppers exercised their vocal talents in the Carol-oke, which ran in partnership with Hallam FM. But there was no Simon Cowell to dampen the festive cheer, instead each contestant was warmly received and came away with their own prize.

Taking part in the event was Alf Oliver from Longley, who said: “I had a sore throat, so I wasn’t sure how great I sounded! But I love singing and its great to be out here singing in public”.

Favourites on the day included Slade’s Merry Christmas and Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas, all sung with varying degrees of success!

Sandra Barley, Centre Liaison Manager for MoorSheffield, said: “It created a terrific atmosphere on The Moor and was great entertainment for all those doing their Christmas shopping!"
